The Heroic Man Who Died Fighting Terrorists With His Skateboard.
By now, you’ve no doubt heard about the terror attacks on London Bridge on June 3. Terrorists drove a car into pedestrians, then jumped out and began stabbing people at random, killing eight – and sadly two Australian women. The whole thing is tragic, including the story of Ignacio Echeverria, a 39-year-old skateboarder from Spain who got right into the middle of it.
Ignacio Echeverria had been skating at a park nearby and was riding his bike past the Borough Market when the attacks happened. He saw a woman being stabbed and did the unthinkable: he got off his bike, grabbed his board and used it to defend her. He was killed in the process.
Ignacio was reported as “missing” by British authorities until this morning when he was confirmed dead. Spanish reporter, Isabel Duran, wrote on Twitter, “Ignacio Echeverria attacked the terrorists to try and save a woman. He is in the sky, inseparable with his skateboard.”
Roll on in peace Ignacio Echeverria.
