On Saturday afternoon in Huntington Beach, California, Zion Wright took out the Men’s Finals of the VPS, followed by Brazilian Pedro Barros and young American Jagger Eaton. Nineteen-year-old Zion, who just turned pro for Real Skateboards in a surprise moment on King of the Road, was actually a 'wildcard' in the event, making his victory even sweeter.

'Straya’s own Jack Fardell from Queanbeyan ended up in eighth spot, while young Swedish style king Oskar Rozenberg Hallberg came in sixth. The other Aussie in the comp, Keegan Palmer, broke his wrist on the course the day before the finals and was filming Instagram Stories from the emergency room while Tom Schaar was unable to compete because of an injury. It was the third VPS event for 2018 and Zion’s first time on the podium.

In the Women’s Finals, Kisa Nakamura from Japan won first place with a cracker of a final run, followed by Americans Jordyn Barratt and Brighton Zeuner. Aussie young-blood, Poppy Starr Olsen, earned seventh spot in the finals, just ahead of Nora Vasconcellos.
