Precinct Slam 630

Precinct Skate Shop on the Gold Coast has just released their range of Mark Gonzales-illustrated tees, hoodies and stickers, becoming the first Australian shop to participate in the Sketchy Skate Shops Appreciation Program.

The program was put together by Deluxe Distribution in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to show support to local skate shops and the scenes they support. Inspired my Mike Gigliotti’s ‘Shop Shirt Program’, the idea was to use sketches provided by Mark Gonzales and allow skate shops to use them on shirts, hoodies and stickers.

As Deluxe Distribution explained, “The Sketchy Skate Shop Appreciation Program is a part of our efforts and hopes to help a bit.

“The beginning of March hit us like a brick. Like everyone, we didn’t know which way was up at first, and we knew that skaters and skate shops everywhere were in the same scenario.

“Using sketches that Mark Gonzales donated, we created personalised, exclusive designs for a limited number of skate shops. Each piece of artwork is free for the shops to use on their own shop shirts, hoods, and stickers. We’re excited to see what they come up with.”

Final Version

Project Distribution handpicked a selection of leading Australian skate stores and Precinct wasted no time to get the design into production. The Precinct crew personally hand screen-printed all their own tees and hoodies, colour-matching the illustrations with Gonz’s 2006 ‘Communion Priest’ dolls.
