KIERAN WOOLLEY WINS PARK X GAMES GOLD AND CHECKS IN

27.07.2022

Over the weekend, Kieran took out Gold in the X Games Park comp in Southern California. Watch his winning run, starting at 2.35 minutes in, and read an update on Kieran’s most recent video parts, hospital visits and international shenanigans.

Kieran Woolley is not only a naturally gifted Australian transition skateboarder, but he’s also one of the most productive. He is constantly jetting around the world, crushing the comp circuit and using his time in between to put down a steady succession of video parts. Kieran checked in with us about what’s been keeping him busy of late. So, what has the lad from Minnamurra been up to lately? Here’s a rundown, straight from Kieran.

Life’s been so hectic the past couple of months, from the X Games in Japan to my part dropping for OJ Wheels, then back to The States for a bit, then to Europe for four weeks and then X Games last weekend.

Back in January, I headed home to Australia for four weeks. I spent the first two weeks with the fam and catching up with friends, then headed to Melbourne for the last two weeks. I skated my ass off there and had a goal of filming a full part for OJ Wheels during that time.

When the OJ part dropped, I was actually in Japan for X Games. This was an unreal experience, even though Japan was still super locked down. We didn’t get long on the park, but I really liked it. I was beyond stoked to come away with 2nd place in my first X Games.

After Japan, I went back to Cali for a bit to skate and film a bunch. I then flew to Warsaw, Poland for the Monster Energy Europe tour. It was an amazing time, and we had the sickest crew! We did a demo at the DIY skatepark and it was surreal how many people were there watching and shredding.

From Warsaw, I flew to Copenhagen for the CPH Open. It was a really fun week, and I had a blast. I ended up winning the Rune Glifberg Invitational Bowl Jam on day three of the event and then got extremely sick and had to lay in bed for about five days. I felt so bad that I eventually went to the hospital. It was just the flu, but I was running a crazy temp, hence the hospital check.

Once I was feeling a bit better, I jumped on a plane and went to Prague for Mystic Cup. It was a super fun competition, but I was struggling a lot, being super weak and still a little sick. I ended up coming 5th and did some tricks I’ve never done in competition before and had a good time, so I was stoked.

I flew to Helsinki, Finland, for another stop on the Monster tour and the Hell Ride competition. This was the funnest event ever – it had the sickest spots and the sickest vibe. I had a blast skating with everyone and getting smoked on the hill bomb on the last day.

During my last stop in Europe, Monarch came out with a video featuring the am skaters on the team. I was so stoked about how it turned out, and I’m hyped on the clips I got in it. Everyone killed it.

Now I’m back in The States, and there is a pretty good chance that you know, but I picked up X Games Gold on the weekend; the first Australian to win X Games Gold in Park Skateboarding. I had a lot of fun and was stoked to lay my runs down and put some pressure on the other guys who were all skating really well.

This weekend, I’m flying to Iowa for the Dew Tour.

Cheers,

Kieran.
