BEN HENNESSY INTERVIEW

In a skateboarding world now flooded with clickbait gimmicks, pointless vlogs, and the constant chase for the quickest, cheapest way to make a name, it’s refreshing to know that authentic skateboarders like Ben Hennessy still exist. Ben’s interview is real and raw, with photos at some of Sydney’s gnarliest spots.

SYDNEY CENTRAL STATION

No Australian skate spot has been hotter in recent months than Henry Deane Plaza at Sydney’s Central Train Station. Dormant for the best part of two decades, the plaza has lit up out of nowhere in the past few months, becoming a rare melting pot for the Sydney scene. Thanks to a sudden absence of the area’s traditionally ironclad security, Sydney skateboarders have their plaza moment and we’ve got the full story and incredible plaza pics.

SHAUN PAUL HIGH FIVES

The 28-year-old, Bunbury-bred, now Melbourne-based powerhouse, hits us with bite-sized bursts, covering everything from underrated Aussie rippers to life heroes, skate videos that shaped him, and a glimpse inside a Shanghai jail cell. We get the scoop on Shaun’s favourite spots, foods, books, and the habits that drive him – and his teammates – nuts on tour. Shaun Paul is unfiltered, humble, and hungry to get daily clips in the streets.

VOLCOM VIDEO – MICROWAVE

Almost two decades since Let’s Live, and Volcom will return with Microwave – a new film due for release in early 2026 – built on the same foundation of raw energy and creativity, but flipped for today’s world. We’ve got interviews with Simon Bannerot, Rob Pace, Rome Collyer, Liv Lovelace and Theo Clarke to find out what’s cooking in Volcom’s Microwave.

DANTE NARITA-JOHNSON NEW GEN

One of Melbourne’s most beloved skateboarders holds down the New Gen for our Summer Edition. Interviewed by Nick Boserio, Dante delivers his full story covering his Japanese heritage, his musical gifts, finding his strengths on a skateboard, and all-nighters filming with the Evisen crew in Japan – all accompanied by pics of his popped flip tricks.

ALSO IN THIS EDITION:

We ask Nick Boserio about his quirks and kinks when it comes to setting up a board, and the details behind his all-new mega-wide pro wheel. Read our Crust Report covering Australia’s oldest relic skateparks, this one’s a little gem called Stockton Halfpipe. We pay respect to the life of Lynne Grosse – the first Australian woman to compete internationally, have a photo in a skateboarding magazine, and go on tour with a sponsor. There’s also plenty more to explore in this Summer Edition of Slam!
