Earlier this year, in celebration of Go Skateboarding Day 2016, 50 skate-shops across Australia and Asia were offered the chance to submit a two-minute skate video representing their store and team by doing 50-50 grinds in celebration of 50 years of Vans.
From those 50 stores, a select few would be offered the trip of a lifetime to the House of Vans in Shanghai, China. Once there, this handful of stores would have a skate showdown on the House of Vans mini ramp for cash, building up to the grand final where one shop would be crowned the king of skate shops – chosen by Vans through their video votes. The winning shop took home a cool $2000 USD cash money, with the runners-up pocketing $800 USD each.
Well, it just so happened that three out of the 50 shops were from Australia, kicking off the Aussie rampage in Shanghai. Geelong Skate Shop, Lodown and OCD all came out the victors, combining forces to bring you this clip by George Kousoulis. Good times were had by all. We can’t thank Vans China enough! Until next year. Enjoy. – Andrew Mapstone.
